Eric's Ultimate Solitaire doesn't run on Mac OS X Lion (yet?)

Good news! Eric's All-in-1 Solitaire for Mac OS X 10.6 and later is available in the Mac App store. Click here to check it out

I've started getting email from users about Eric's Ultimate Solitaire for Mac OS X Lion. The problem is that it's not compatible with Lion and they need their solitaire fix. I'm busy finishing some iPad contract work, but once I'm done I'm going to work full time on my own Sniderware games. There's a lot on the to-do list... One of the big items is writing a new Mac solitaire game based on my iPhone and iPad solitaire games. I need to talk to Joe at Delta Tao Software again and see about licensing the "Eric's Ultimate Solitaire" name. Although whether it's called "Eric's Ultimate Solitaire" or some other name I'm a long way from being ready to ship the game. Okay, I just emailed Joe to see what he thinks! It's weird, but maybe I'll be porting from iPhone/iPad to Mac OS. Weird since I started long ago on Mac OS...

It'd be helpful if the website at deltatao were updated to no longer say that Eric's Solitaire is "Intel Friendly".

Looking forward to a new version.... a 64-bit Intel version... :)

hope you get time to update both on the Mac and iPods/iPads.

Eric... help. I'm stuck with a very ornery solitaire game and can't seem to get through it... surely you built in a few helpful tricks into the software... a hidden preference or two? I've played over 13000 games without losing a single one, not to mention doggedly trying to lower my average time per game and now it's all going to be for naught.

So... anything?

Helloooooooo.... (I left a comment here over a week ago that remains unanswered.) :-(

Hope to hear from you soon!

Sorry about the delay responding! I'm usually way faster, but I'm better at email.

It looks like Joe has updated the Delta Tao site to mention in several places that their games don't run on Mac OS X Lion yet. I'll be working on my own stuff full time again in January. I have a lot of solitaire things to catch up on. I'd still like to port my iPad solitaire to Mac OS X Lion and add a lot of new games to it too.

Jacques – I apologize, there aren't any hidden features in Ultimate Solitaire to solve your problem. Sometimes a deal isn't winnable. It's been a REALLY long time since I've run Ultimate Solitaire, but isn't there a Cheat feature where you get to use the red claw to pull a card out? I think there's nothing wrong with doing that if you want to get a better sense of how close you were to winning. Every deal is NOT winnable, but depending on the game most are. You didn't mention which game you're playing, but for example most deals of FreeCell, Eight Off and Towers are winnable.

Hi Eric!
I'm playing Eight Off, and after 2 weeks of trying I can't beat it. I've removed those preferences and placed them in a separate folder to tackle when I've got more time, and patience. I've started with a new "player" and fresh preferences. I'd actually played over 15000 games of Eight Off before hitting this one, and now have played 250 with the fresh preferences. Thanks for replying Eric, it is appreciated. I really do think this is the best solitaire game I'm ever played on the computer.

Take care!

Jacques

Are you getting nearer for Mac OS X Lion?

I'm working on an all-in-1 solitaire game for iOS now based on my iPhone and iPad games. The basics are all there. I'm hoping that I can license the Eric's Ultimate Solitaire name and maybe the old art from Delta Tao Software. Either way I'll ship the iOS version and then work on porting it to Mac OS X. The good news there is although I haven't written a Mac game in a long time I understand that Mac OS X programming is very similar to iOS. So it should be pretty easy to get it working on Mac OS X.

I bought the solitaire cd years ago - now it won't install on my new windows 7 OS
(64 bit)

is there a newer version (or a fix) out there or coming out that will be compatible?

I changed gears. I'm working on the Mac OS X version right now. I've got it playing with ~20 games now and am focused on getting the basics right. My guess is it'll be ready to ship around the end of the year, but no official promises yet. If you'd like to test it out send email to support@sniderware.com and let me know what kind of Mac you have, what version of Mac OS X and which specific solitaire game is your favorite.

Please, please make a version for Mac 10.8.

I've been waiting for years!

(At least I have the iPad version.)

Please!

Je suis "Mac" depuis le début, et je me souvient que ultimate était donné avec les programmes. Et puis une longue chaîne d'updates, avant celui que nous connaissons. Je ne connaît pas mieux. Alors je rugis avec les lions : hallo mais quoi?

Amicalement,
Marc
